The news that Porsche’s biggest selling car in Europe in August was the all-electric Taycan will focus minds in the German car industry.

If Porsche’s avidly petrol-headed buyers flock to an EV once it is available,  what is the point of spending more R&D euros on petrol engines?  The German car industry,  long sceptical of the consumer demand for EVs,  will now realise that the ICE game is over.  The next step in this rapidly accelerating transition to EVs will be the effect of sales of VW’s ID-3 on its ICE models.
